Halischuk, Spaling, O’Reilly, Mueller Re-Signed

O'Reilly, Halischuk, Spaling and Mueller were all re-signed a day before the NHLPA hearing.

The Predators just announced the re-signing of four of the seven RFAs today in tomorrow’s NHLPA hearing. Preds fans are sighing with relief that David Poile offered these guys contracts before tomorrow’s hearing, which could have sent all of them in the Open Market as UFAs (unrestricted free agents).

  • Cal O’Reilly – one-year contract for $1.05 Million
  • Nick Spaling – two-year contract for $2.1 Million
  • Matt Halischuk – two-year contract for $1.425 Million
  • Chris Mueller – one-year contract; two-way deal – NHL level – $550,00 – AHL level – $65,000
Like I said, most Preds fans are sighing with relief, but after the smoke has cleared, what about Sergei Kostitsyn? Well, as you remember, Mr. SK74 is filing for arbitration and is expecting a huge pay out this coming season. That doesn’t mean Kostitsyn is off the table, though. It isn’t a surprise SK74 will be getting a huge pay check, so as long as it isn’t an outrageous amount (:cough: Ward :cough:), the Predators will re-sign him for sure.
Sadly, Kostitsyn could still be sent to the Open Market tomorrow and other clubs will be offering outrageous amounts that the Predators may not be able to compete with. Let’s hope he keeps his word about wanting to stay in Nashville.
